Mr. Masoud Afnan FRCOG

Consultant Obstetrician, a Gynecologist & Fertility Specialist

A consultant in Obstetrics and Gynaecology at the Birmingham Women's Hospital since 1992, where he was the Director of Assisted Conception Unit from 1994-2004. He has specialised in the field of infertility and assisted conception since 1985. He is an internationally recognised infertility consultant, an Inspector for the UK Human Fertilisation and Embryology Authority, and a Board member of the British Fertility Society. He chairs the training committee of the British Fertility Society. He has authored over 50 publications. Mr Afnan provides services in gynaecology, fertility, assisted conception and early pregnancy care.

Dr. Spyros Papaioannou, MD, MRCOG,

Consultant Obstetrician and Gynaecologist

A consultant in Obstetrics and Gynaecology at the Heart of England Foundation NHS Trust, since 2004, Dr. S. Papaioannou has specialised in the field of infertility and assisted conception since 2000. He trained as a Clinical Research Fellow at the Assisted Conception Unit at the Birmingham Women’s Hospital where he is also an Honorary Consultant. He holds the special skills certifications on Assisted Reproduction, Gynaecological Ultrasound, and Laparoscopic Surgery by the Royal College of obstetricians and Gynaecologists (RCOG). He also holds the Doctor of Medicine degree by the University of Birmingham. His research concentrated on tubal infertility and more specifically on selective salpingography and tubal catheterisation. He has published many scientific papers in medical journal, chapters in medical textbooks, and has presented work both in national and international congresses. He is a Honorary Senior Lecturer with the University of Birmingham and a member of the British Fertility Society, the European Society for Human Reproduction and Embryology.

 

Miss Kavita Singh, MD MRCOG

Consultant Gynaecologist

Miss Singh is a consultant gynaecologist based at the City Hospital, Birmingham and is a sub-specialist in gynaecological oncology. She works as part of the team servicing the Pan-Birmingham Gynaecological Cancer Centre. Miss Singh is the clinical lead for minimal access surgery and is an accredited Colposcopist. She has special> expertise in complex gynaecological surgery, pelvic reconstruction, and advanced laparoscopic surgery.
Miss Singh undertook a research fellowship at Brigham Women's Hospital, Boston (Harvard University), travelling fellowships to Duke Medical Centre, North Carolina and Rush Presbyterian Hospital, Chicago. She has been trained in repair of genital tract fistulae at Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. She has published widely and presented at national and international forums.
Miss Singh provides high quality services in colposcopy, and management of gynaecological cancers including ovarian, uterine, cervical and vulval cancers, including advice regarding familial cancers.
In addition to the advanced surgery, Miss Singh provides general gynaecology services relating to menstrual dysfunction, menopause, pelvic pain and pelvic floor dysfunction.
