Our team members are leading consultants in their specialties, with years of experience as consultants both in the private health care sector and large NHS teaching hospitals. The team members work together to offer you integrated care. Often in Fertility, Gynaecology, Andrology and Early Pregnancy you may require the care of more than one specialist, and our integrated team offers you this seamless pathway with the assurance of consistent high quality care. Our consultant team members, in addition to being leading clinicians, are also scientific pioneers who have published many research papers and books in their fields, thus assuring you of the most advanced, cutting-edge and appropriate care.

 

Mr. Masoud Afnan FRCOG

Consultant Obstetrician, a Gynecologist & Fertility Specialist

Mr. Masoud Afnan FRCOGA consultant in Obstetrics and Gynaecology at the Birmingham Women's Hospital since 1992, where he was the Director of Assisted Conception Unit from 1994-2004. He has specialised in the field of infertility and assisted conception since 1985. He is an internationally recognised infertility consultant, an Inspector for the UK Human Fertilisation and Embryology Authority, and a Board member of the British Fertility Society. He chairs the training committee of the British Fertility Society. He has authored over 50 publications. Mr Afnan provides services in gynaecology, fertility, assisted conception and early pregnancy care.

 


Dr. Spyros Papaioannou, MD, MRCOG,

Consultant Obstetrician and Gynaecologist

Mr. Khaldoun Sharif MD, FRCOG, MFFPA consultant in Obstetrics and Gynaecology at the Heart of England Foundation NHS Trust, since 2004, Dr. S. Papaioannou has specialised in the field of infertility and assisted conception since 2000. He trained as a Clinical Research Fellow at the Assisted Conception Unit at the Birmingham Women’s Hospital where he is also an Honorary Consultant. He holds the special skills certifications on Assisted Reproduction, Gynaecological Ultrasound, and Laparoscopic Surgery by the Royal College of obstetricians and Gynaecologists (RCOG). He also holds the Doctor of Medicine degree by the University of Birmingham. His research concentrated on tubal infertility and more specifically on selective salpingography and tubal catheterisation. He has published many scientific papers in medical journal, chapters in medical textbooks, and has presented work both in national and international congresses. He is a Honorary Senior Lecturer with the University of Birmingham and a member of the British Fertility Society, the European Society for Human Reproduction and Embryology.

 


Mr Zaki Almallah MB ChB MD FRCS (Edinburgh) FRCS (Urology),

Infertility Specialist

Mr AlmallahMr Almallah is the lead male infertility specialist at University Hospital Birmingham NHS Foundation Trust (Queen Elizabeth Hospital) with specialist experience in azoospermia; vasography and microsurgical sperm retrieval. He performs reversal of vasectomy using microsurgical techniques (high magnifying surgical microscope).

His experience in Urology goes back to 1997 at the University of Aberdeen and Birmingham hospitals with several awards. He has long list of scientific publications and guest lectures. He was a visiting Consultant at the University of Colorado Health Science Centre, USA and the University of Johannes Gutenberg, Mainz, Germany. He has also provided consultancy work for the department of health, NICE and the pharmaceutical industry and other specialist organisations.

Mr Zaki Almallah is a well recognised expert in the field of urological surgery in the West Midlands (male infertility, bladder and prostate dysfunction, incontinence as well as laser stone surgery) and with a large tertiary referral practice from the whole of Birmingham area as well as Worcestershire, Warwickshire, Staffordshire and beyond.
