Menopausal problems

Menopausal problems

These include menopausal symptoms (such as hot flushes, vaginal dryness and difficulty concentrating), bleeding after the menopause and prolapse.
These are distressing problems and significantly affect the quality of life. We offer screening (pelvic ultrasound scan and sampling from the lining of the womb if necessary) to exclude serious underlining conditions and offer symptomatic treatment.

In addition, we will discuss with you the risks and benefits of hormone replacement therapy (HRT).

Prolapse

After childbirth and commonly after the menopause, the pelvic floor can become weak. In these circumstances, it can bulge into the vagina. This is called a prolapse. It can be treated using a special ‘rings’ in the vagina, or by vaginal repair surgery.
